Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNCW Department of Athletics sponsors 19 varsity sports andcompetes in the NCAA Division I as a member of the Coastal AthleticAssociation. UNCW Athletics mission is to enrich the Universitythrough a commitment to developing leadership qualities among itsstudent-athletes by providing opportunities which support andpromote academic excellence, community engagement and competitivesuccess.
This position assists in providing oversight over the diversebusiness practices of the Division 1 Athletics’ teams, Athletics’administrative departments, and the Student Aid Association. Thisposition will assist in the oversight of the day-to-day operationsof the Athletics Business Office. Core responsibilities includeassisting with the management of team travel, pCard Reconciliationapprovals, and day-to-day financial functions. Collaborating withthe Associate Athletic Director of Business Operations and SeniorAssociate Athletic Director/ CFO, to drive innovation and fosterdepartmental collaboration for organizational success.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
- Assist in providing oversight of administrative processes,including finance, procurement, and travel
- Under the direction of the Associate AD of Business Operationswill assist to establish, educate, and maintain internal policiesand guidelines, interprets, communicates, and ensures policies arefollowed
- Serves as the liaison with campus administrative offices suchas accounting, budgeting, & purchasing
- Assist the Associate AD of Business Operations in monitoringdepartment budgets for 50+ Athletics and Student Aid Associationfunds with a broad range of business activities includingfundraising, specialized revenue sources, and expenditures
- Authorizes budget revisions or takes other steps to ensurefiscal accuracy; performs or oversees account reconciliations
- Assist in completing the Department of Education Equity inAthletics Disclosure Act ( EADA ) annual report, NCAA membershipfinancial reports, and CAA Compensation survey
- Liaison with all campus partners
- Reconcile all Bookstore purchases (Barnes & Noble)
- Assist in approving travel card reconciliations
- Assist in processing all department journal entries and budgetrevisions
- The responsibilities of this position requires specializationand knowledge in multiple software programs in all areas ofadministration and business components
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a relateddiscipline; or an equivalent combination of training andexperience. All degrees must be received from appropriatelyaccredited institutions.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
- Two years of administrative management or business managementexperience
- Considerable knowledge of university software systems – Banner,PeopleAdmin, Chrome River, uShop, etc.
- Five years experience in athletics business operations.
