“Hey, you okay?” Logan’s dark brown eyes focused on me, and he tenderly brushed a finger against my cheek.
“Yeah. I’m good.”
His lips molded to mine, ever so briefly, and my tight ribcage loosened.
“I’d better go get showered.”
“Don’t change on my account. I like this outfit.”
I glanced down at my dusty jean cut-offs and white tank top. “I don’t think this would really fit in at Aqua.”
He stepped closer. His fingers grazed my cheek, then his lips found mine. My body awakened from his proximity, craving the pleasure he offered. His large hand curved against my ass and drew me against his pelvis. The lines of his erection pressed against my center. He broke our kiss with a groan. He clutched my hips, keeping me close.
“Were you and Gabe drinking?”
“We shared a beer on his deck. Why?”
“You taste lemony. Maybe lemony hops? I like it.”
He bent down and gave me another taste. Our tongues danced slowly at first. As our kiss grew in intensity, our bodies melded together, seeking friction. He broke the kiss, his breath heavy.
“If you really want to get ready for tonight, I’d better go. Now.”
I nodded, but my body begged to drag him into the bedroom. As if it had a mind of its own, my pelvis ground against him, ever so lightly, silently communicating what I really wanted. He gripped my hair and tilted my head back, kissing me deeply, owning me, stealing my breath, and inching me into the house, down the hall, into…
The bedroom—which still might have cameras. And a security team lurking. Reality fell over me like a bucket of ice-cold water, and I pushed him away. He tilted his head, puzzled. His exhale hinted at frustration.
“We only have one hour. Should I pick you up?”
“One hour.” He kissed the pad of his index finger and placed the finger on my lips. “Soon.” After he drove away, I glared up at the security camera hanging nearby, then with a huff, slammed the door.

The Inheritance by JoAnn Ross is a wonderful novel of family, new beginnings and love.
Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Jackson Swann captured horrifying images the world needed to see. He put his career first as he put himself in danger to take the photos that showed the worst of humanity. Jackson married and divorced his first wife and walked away from his daughter, Tess. He then married wife number two and although their marriage was essentially a war zone, he acquiesced to his wife’s wishes to remain married in name only. He remained a part of his daughter Charlotte’s life and they treasure their times together. Jackson’s final relationship lasted twenty-six years and he was very involved in his soul mate and their daughter Natalie’s lives. When he discovers he has terminal cancer, Jackson suffers regrets and failings as a father. He has hopes the terms of his will can unite his adult daughters as he brings them together at his family’s estate and vineyard in Aberdeen, Oregon. Will Jackson succeed in giving them the home and family they each deserve?
Tess is a former child star turned pop singer turned author. She is close to her mother but she is slightly bitter about her father’s abandonment. Now living a quiet, solitary life, Tess is the author of a best-selling young adult series that has been made into a TV series. At his suggestion, Charlotte scaled her successful design business way back although she does still work with a few clients. Having lived her life as a people pleaser, it takes a cataclysmic problem at home for Charlotte to make the decision to honor her father’s request to go to the vineyard.
Natalie Seurat-Swann is also a photographer but she instead captures life’s happier moments. She is an urban street photographer and a rising star in the art world. Natalie is very close to Franklin and she is devastated at his loss. She immediately drops everything to travel to the family estate where she is anxious yet nervous about meeting her sisters.
The Inheritance is an engrossing novel that features a marvelous cast of appealing characters. Despite their differences and concerns, Tess, Charlotte and Natalie are quick to warm up to each other. Tess tries to maintain an emotional distance but she is drawn to her half-sisters and the Swann family history. She also has a chance for love but only if she decides to risk her heart. Charlotte blossoms once she is away from her husband and mother and she begins to have perspective about her relationships and mistakes. Tess is thrilled by how quickly she and her sisters find common ground. She is also torn as she tries to make a decision about whether or not to act on her long-standing feelings for someone who has long been part of her life. The Swann family’s history about their grandparents’ heroic actions during World War II and their subsequent romance add depth and substance to the storyline. Without much drama or angst, JoAnn Ross brings this charming, character-driven novel to a very happy conclusion.

“Beck, I’ve heard so many great things about you. It’s nice to finally meet you.”
“People been talking?” Beck chuckled again, but he was studying her face, assessing her with those stunning eyes.
“My grandfather, Win Ross. I’m Grace Holland, and he left instructions that I should reach out to you. That you would have something for me.”
Beck tilted his head a bit to the left, a tender expression passing over his face. “Gracie Jane. I figured you’d be stopping by here at some point. I was sorry to hear about Win’s passing. Everyone in town loved him. And I felt blessed to call him my friend. God, I miss him every day.”
“Thanks for saying that, Beck. I miss him, too. And it’s just Grace now. I think my granddad was the only one still calling me Gracie Jane.”
“He did.” Beck nodded. “He talked about his granddaughter all the time. He was so proud of you and how you started that company of your own.”
As he spoke about her granddad, Beck’s eyes softened and his voice warmed. Talking about the most important man in her life with someone she’d just met felt bittersweet. But according to her granddad, Beck was one of his dearest friends.
“I remember how proud he was when I told him about my new business venture.”
“A website design business. What’s it called again?”
“Holland Designs.”
“Right.” He bobbed his head. “Win said you had more work than you could do in a lifetime.”
“That sounds about right.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t make it to the memorial. I searched for information but never found anything.”
Grace bit her lower lip and then shook her head. The memorial had been a point of contention between her and her mother. “There wasn’t one.”
“Yeah, he always said he didn’t want anything like that, but I wondered if his family would have one anyway.”
“No. My mom and I…We just wanted to do exactly what he wanted.” Grace’s mother had an entirely different interpretation of what Edwin Ross had wanted. “And his wish was to not have people standing around, staring at him.”
Beck chuckled softly. “I remember Win saying that.”
Several unpleasant tasks still remained to be accomplished today, and they dampened the joy Grace generally experienced reminiscing about her granddad. “My granddad left something here for me. Do you have that?”
“Right.” Beck pointed toward the corner of the enormous hangar. “It’s in my office.”
With quickened steps, Grace kept pace beside Beck. “This place wasn’t here before. I mean, when I used to live here, there was the airstrip, but there weren’t many hangars. Maybe two or three.”
“It’s become a thing. Owning a plane. Faster than the ferry if you’re crossing Lake Michigan. Lots of people around the county can afford it. And none of the other towns in the area have an airstrip.”
Stopping at the door to his office, Grace watched while Aaron walked to his desk and lifted a heavy-looking silver paperweight shaped like an airplane. He plucked a key from underneath and went to a tall wooden cabinet in the corner. With a twist of his wrist, he unlocked the door. From her position outside his office, she could see the small black safe. He entered a code, and the door swung opened. Shifting the contents around, he produced a manilla envelope. Then, Beck reversed his steps until he was standing in front of her again, presenting her with the envelope.
The strained expression on his face was exactly how Grace’s heart felt in the moment. A deep ache—one of loneliness and sorrow—created by the loss of a precious soul. Slowly, she reached for the envelope.
“Thank you, Beck. Thank you for keeping my granddad’s wishes safe for him. For me.”
“Yeah, no problem.” Beck pinched his lips together and glanced around before meeting her eyes again. “So, are you ready for your tour?”
“Tour? Now? No.” Grace shook her head, fighting a choking feeling at the back of her throat. A tour—wasting time, wandering around—wasn’t part of her plans for today. Not even for a few minutes. “No. I don’t need a tour. But thanks for this.” She lifted the envelope to indicated she had all she needed at the moment.
Again, he tilted his head the slightest bit to the left and then gave a gruff grunt.
“Suit yourself,” he said. Like a switch had been flipped, his tone turned dark and sarcastic, and Grace had no idea why. “See ya around, Gracie Jane.”

Lila Nash is working with the Hennepin County Attorney as a law clerk while awaiting the results of her bar exam. Never Saw Me Coming by Vera Kurian is a mesmerizing psychological thriller with a truly unique storyline.
Chloe Sevre is a college freshman who is participating in a special program for psychopath. She also has a murderous agenda that nothing will stop her from carrying out. She is pretty and charming so Chloe finds it very easy to set her plan in motion. She is very intelligent but she is also occasionally impulsive. Reining in her darkest urges is not easy but she continues to stick to her schedule despite a few minor inconveniences like murder (not committed by her). Chloe has unexpectedly stumbled across other students who are in the same study. But with trust issues running rampant between them, can they count on each other to stick to their investigation into who wants them dead?
Chloe has been plotting her murderous revenge for several years and she is not going to allow anything or anyone to get in her way. She has stalked, err studied, her target and she is armed with enough information to begin right away. Chloe befriends other students who are useful to her and she impatiently bides her time while carrying out her plans. After teaming up with the other psychopaths, she is somewhat indignant when they suspect of her being involved in the other murders. In between her plot to exact revenge and hunt for the other killer, Chloe is a typical college student who parties with her friends, attends classes and maintain her GPA.
Never Saw Me Coming is an entertaining thriller with surprisingly likable characters. The university setting is the perfect setting for Chloe to stalkher victim. She is not as infallible as she believes and her reaction to this realization is absolutely priceless. The other students from the psychological study are well-developed and it is quite fun watching their interactions with each other. With unanticipated twists and cunning turns, Vera Kurian brings this ingenuous thriller to an edge of the seat conclusion.
