JB White was a phenomenal basketball player for Santa Fe High School and earned national recognition, along with several college athletic scholarships before selection to play for the UNM Lobos. Unfortunately, JB's life was tragically taken by gun violence within Santa Fe County on August 1, 2020.

The Mission of the JB White Scholarship Tournament is to empower our youth by raising awareness about gun violence while supporting our local high school student athletes by providing academic scholarships.

We had the privilege to help present First Place trophies for all divisions and take a photo with the winning teams.

We also had a wonderful time seeing all the talented players on the court and joining our community to cheer them on during the event. We are looking forward to next year’s tournament!

Santa Fe, NM – July 14, 2024, at approximately 1:20 p.m., officers from the Santa Fe Police Department were dispatched to the 6000 block of Entrada De Milagro in reference to a robbery. The victim reported he was robbed at gunpoint by five individuals who fled in a vehicle.

After determining a possible location for the suspects, officers utilized an Unmanned Aerial System (Drone) to assist in locating the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was located, and all five suspects were taken into custody.

There is no danger to the public.

Occupant Found Deceased

Santa Fe, NM – July 13, 2024, This afternoon at approximately 4:20 p.m., officers from the Santa Fe Police Department were dispatched to the 3000 block of Calle Tangara in reference to a house fire. Upon making contact with the Santa Fe Fire Department, they advised one person was located in the residence and was confirmed to be deceased. The decedent is pending confirmation of identification and notification to next of kin.

The State Fire Marshal was summoned to investigate the incident.

This incident is an active investigation, additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

Santa Fe, NM – July 11, 2024, The Santa Fe Police Department continues to seek the public’s assistance in locating Santos Treto-Ortiz, 33 years of age.

Mr. Treto-Ortiz was reported missing by his family in June 2022. His last known location in June 2022 was the Cottonwood Mobile Home Park, on Cottonwood Drive and Agua Fria Street.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1000.00 reward for any information leading to the location of Santos Treto-Ortiz or for any suspect involved in his disappearance.

This case remains under active investigation, and as additional information becomes available it will be provided, Case number 2022-006033.

Santa Fe, NM – July 10, 2024, the Santa Fe Police Department is seeking assistance locating Eva
Angel Lopez (17 years of age).

Eva was reported missing on July 9, 2024, by her mother. She was last seen traveling on foot in the Governor Miles Road area. Eva was last known to be with her Aunt Linda Ural in the Albuquerque area. Eva may also be with a boyfriend by the name of “Josh” (unknown last name) in the Albuquerque area.

Further information provided to police was Eva may be traveling to San Diego to be with an aunt that lives there.

Eva is described as being 5’2”, 94lbs., with brown eyes (may have green contacts) and brown hair. Last seen wearing a green tank top, black denim shorts, and white Skecher shoes. Also carrying a Blue suitcase and a black backpack.

This case remains under active investigation, and as additional information becomes available, it will be provided. Case number 2024-007790.

Santa Fe, NM – July 9, 2024, the Santa Fe Police Department is seeking assistance locating Adrian Alberto Garcia- Ochoa (17 years of age).

Adrian was reported missing on July 8th, 2024, at approximately 11:42 pm, by his father. Adrian is described as being approximately 5’06” in height, 105 lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Adrian was last seen at his residence in the area of the Sierra Vista Mobile Home Park on Zepol Road.

Adrian may be traveling in his black in color 2019 Chrysler 300, bearing a New Mexico Temporary Registration Tag.

His family reported Adrian is known to make suicidal ideations but has not acted upon on them.

This case remains under active investigation, and as additional information becomes available, it will be provided.

Santa Fe, NM – July 8, 2024. The Santa Fe Police Department has located Melanie Lopez. She was located safe in the City of Santa Fe. Ms. Lopez was reported missing on January 28, 2024, by her family.

We appreciate the assistance from our community with providing all the tips which helped us locate Ms. Lopez. This case is considered closed.
