Malcolm W. Meadows
Malcolm Wesley Meadows, 91, of Shenandoah, went to be with his Lord on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Willow Estates in Penn Laird.
Mr. Meadows was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late John Wesley and Lydia Ethel Meadows.
Mr. Meadows was a graduate of Elkton High School, a member of Fields United Methodist Church in Shenandoah and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a conductor for 39 years for the Norfolk & Western Railroad, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Avis O. Comer VFW Post 8613 in Shenandoah and the American Legion Post 141.
On Aug. 15, 1945, he married Maggie Mae Meadows, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Randolph Carson Meadows and wife, Patti, of Penn Laird; a daughter, the Rev. Dr. Patricia Mae Meadows of Staunton; brothers, Bernard Meadows and Matthew Meadows, both of Elkton; sisters, Iris Dean, Evelyn Blose and Vernell Baugher, all of Elkton, and Geneva Good of Luray; grandchildren, David Meadows of Mount Crawford, Dondria Holsinger and husband, James, of Harrisonburg, Kelly Meadows of Penn Laird, and Aaron Meadows and wife, Nicole, of Waynesboro; great-granddaughter, Alycia Meadows of Mount Crawford; and great-grandson, Noah Meadows of Waynesboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Orlando, Howard, Wendell and Rudolph Meadows, and sisters, Della Dean and Alda Hensley.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at the Fields United Methodist Church in Shenandoah with the Rev. Stephen Creech officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
