Investigation resulted in the arrest of 54-year-old Michael McElliott for DUI, Assault IV (Domestic Violence) and Criminal Mischief IV (Domestic Violence). McElliott was remanded to the Craig Jail pending arraignment.

Investigation revealed, Cole Wilson 26 YOA of Anchorage and Samuel Dodd 26 YOA of Wasilla, both had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Additionally, both parties were violating their conditions of release by consuming alcohol. Both Cole and Samuel were remand at Mat-Su Pretrial.

On June 2, 2024, at 1:32pm, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a single vehicle motorcycle accident near mile 49 of the Parks Highway. Investigation revealed Timothy Hoffman Sr., age 58 of Anchorage, was riding with a passenger and lost control of his motorcycle as he was northbound passing S. Rainbow Street, leaving the left shoulder of the road and rolling into the center median. Timothy wasn’t wearing a helmet; his passenger was wearing a full-face helmet.Both were unresponsive and transported to the local hospital with life threatening injuries. Timothy was pronounced deceased at the hospital and his passenger is in critical condition. The Parks highway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours with traffic diverted to the frontage road. Next of kin have been notified.Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Investigation revealed a 51 year old male from Korea had hiked from his campsite and got lost. Willow Fire and Rescue responded at the request of AST and located the man and escorted him to safety.

On 6/3/2024, at approximaltey 1345 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a green Chevrolet pickup at Pittman Road and Beverly Lake Road in Wasilla. An investigation revealed there was a stolen four-wheeler in the bed of the pickup truck that was involved in a burglary that occurred in 2020. The vehicle was recovered and investigation is still ongoing.

On June 02, 2024, at 4:21pm, Alaska State Troopers were notified of an airplane crash on the runway in Bethel. The pilotwas the sole occupant in the plane. Investigation revealed that the Grant Aviation plane made a hard landing onto the runway shortly after takeoff. The pilot was evaluated by EMS and released with no apparent injuries. The FAA and NTSB have been notified.

On May 30, 2024, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a disturbance in Marshall. Troopers from St. Mary’s and Bethel investigated the incident and determined that 40-year-old Marshall resident Carl Edwards-Oney and 46-year-old Marshall resident Leon Edwards had shot at two individuals who were not injured. Troopers obtained arrest warrants for Edwards-Oney and Edwards, and the Alaska State Troopers Southcentral SWAT Team was deployed to effect the arrest warrants due to several general threats made by the men over the last few weeks. On June 1, 2024, SWAT Troopers arrived in Marshall and arrested both men without incident. They were remanded to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Edwards-Oney was arrested on warrants for two counts of Assault 3. Edwards was arrested on warrants for two counts of Assault 3 and one count of Assault 4.

On June 1, 2024, at 5:29 pm, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a motor vehicle collision at Badger’s Road and Old Badger’s Road in North Pole involving a sedan and a child on a bicycle. North Pole Fire medical personnel conducted lifesaving measures on the child. Ultimately the child was pronounced deceased on scene. AST investigation showed the 6-year-old boy had turned abruptly to cross Badger Road and into the eastbound lane of travel, where the sedan collided with him. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision. Next of kin were on scene and notified.

On 06/03/2024, at approximately 1343 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to the area of Outer Springer Loop for a report of an unconscious person in a grey Dodge pickup. Upon arrival Troopers contacted Grant W. Dunnigan, age 56, of Palmer, asleep in the driver's seat with obvious evidence of drug use in his lap. Investigation revealed Dunnigan was in possession of multiple illegal drugs, a loaded handgun, and was on felony probation. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen in 2023. Dunnigan was arrested for the probation violations as well as Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Third Degree and Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the Fourth Degree. Dunnigan was transported and remanded to the Mat Su Pretrial Facility where he was held without bail until arraignment. The vehicle was impounded with a notification to the owner of the recovery.

On 6/2/24, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, contacted a 34' Kingfisher sport fishing near Kayak Islands, in Sitka Sound. Investigation revealed, Marco Hernandez, age 35, of CA, had retained finfish with annual limits earlier in the day and failed to immediately record the catch. Andre Lopez, age 59 of CA, had retained a 29" lingcod when the non-resident slot limit is 30"-35" or over 55". Hernandez was fined $120 and Lopez was fined $170 in the district court at Sitka, for the violations. The unlawful lingcod was seized.
