“Last year’s championship and the 2023-24 regular season have featured record-setting attendance and broadcast viewership. The 2024 women’s basketball championship has the potential to be even more historic,” said Lynn Holzman, NCAA vice president of women’s basketball. “Cleveland has worked tirelessly to put together all the pieces to host a monumental Women’s Final Four. There is a continued focus on premier student-athlete and fan experiences while showcasing this great community that is highly invested in women’s basketball. NCAA Party on the Plaza

Who doesn’t love a party? Join in for a pre-game fan festival outside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Gateway Plaza, complete with activations, fan entertainment and celebrity appearances before you head in for the big game.

NCAA Super Saturday Practice

Watch the final two national championship participating teams during the week's only open practice. As an added bonus, there will be plenty of fan activities and promotions from NCAA Corporate Partners.

It's an incredible opportunity to see the teams up close and to be in the venue hosting the National Championship game on Sunday along with a DJ, player interviews, bands, cheer squads and, of course, team mascots.

NCAA Super Saturday Concert

The Super Saturday Concert is a free event open to the general public. In 2024, the music performance will take place at the Cleveland Public Hall in downtown Cleveland and will feature food and drinks for purchase, an opening act and the headliner, Latto.

Cheer on the final two teams as they arrive and enter Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on their way to compete for the national title.

Join hundreds of young basketball fans dribbling their way through Downtown Cleveland on their way to Tourney Town at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. Registration details are forthcoming. The event is geared toward youth ages 18 and under.

History The last Final Four in Cleveland

The last time the Final Four came to Cleveland was in 2007 when the city hosted Tennessee, Louisiana State University, Rutgers and North Carolina. Tennessee, led by legendary head coach Pat Summitt and All-American Candace Parker, won its seventh Division I Women’s Basketball Championship with a 59–46 win over Rutgers on April 3, 2007 in Cleveland.

Impact on Cleveland Community initiatives and economic impact

Community Initiatives

Students from 117 schools in 12 Northeast Ohio counties started participating in the competition, which started in early December. The top 68 schools that logged the most reading minutes earned a spot in the Read to the Final Four bracket that was announced in January.

The top four classes to log the most minutes by the end of the reading tournament will win a field trip to Fan Fest, Tourney Town during the Women’s Final Four competition in early April.

NCAA Women's Final Four Legacy Project

The NCAA and Dove are teaming up with the Cleveland Local Organizing Committee to install a new basketball court at Boys Hope Girls Hope Northeast Ohio in Garfield Heights.

Officials say that work on the project will be completed before the 2024 Women’s Final Four. Project upgrades include wall pads, sideline seating and a mural installation inspired by the learners of Boys Hope Girls Hope. A ceremony for the Legacy Program will take place during the afternoon of Wednesday, April 3.

“When we bring major sporting events like this to Cleveland, it’s important to us that there is a lasting community impact beyond just the short-term economic benefit,” David Gilbert, president and CEO at Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. “The refurbished court at Girls Hope Boys Hope will provide a high-quality basketball venue to the student-age athletes in this community for years to come.”

Connecting Cleveland

Connecting Cleveland will bring together local college students and industry leaders to drive impactful conversations that will spark opportunities for mentorship and inspire the next generation of leaders. Connecting Cleveland is a private, invite-only event. Through an application process, 200 college students will be selected as mentees.

Economic Impact

When the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission won the bid in 2018 for the 2024 Women's Final Four, they estimated that the economic impact would be $22 million. Now, Gilbert believes that it will be much more due to the growth women's college basketball has seen in recent years.

“It’s an honor to host the NCAA Women’s Final Four in Cleveland — our second time bringing this great sporting event to our city,” said David Gilbert, president and CEO at Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. “It’s been exciting to see the growing interest in women’s sports — and especially women’s basketball — since we were awarded this event in 2018. We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to showcase Cleveland to a national audience and look forward to welcoming people from across the country for this awesome event.
